The Vatican has granted a plenary indulgence for those who participate in a Mass praying for the Walk for Life West Coast 2019, including those who are sick and infirm and who pray along with the participants for the protection of life on January 26, the day of the walk.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone will convey a papal blessing at the 9:30 A.M. Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, along with a plenary indulgence, according to a letter from Vatican.

The plenary indulgence may be obtained by satisfying the usual conditions of confession, Eucharist, and prayer for the Pope's intentions, and attendance at the Cathedral Mass or another offered for the protection of life on January 26 in the Archdiocese of San Francisco and the other dioceses of the Ecclesial Province (Honolulu, San Jose, Oakland, Stockton, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Reno, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas). Those unable to attend such a Mass may obtain the indulgence by joining to it spiritually or via media.

Four opportunities for attending traditional Latin Masses before and after the Walk are as follows:

7:30 A.M.:

Low Mass at Five Wounds Church, 1375 East Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95116

10:00 A.M.:

+ Low Mass at St. Margaret Mary, 219 Excelsior Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610

+ Sung High Mass at the Carmelite Monastery of Cristo Rey, 721 Parker Avenue, San Francisco, 94118—with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Choir
