It was another day of perfect California weather, and there were so many activities for both children and adults to enjoy- and plenty of us showed up to enjoy them! It was the perfect setting for the parishioners to spend time talking, laughing, and enjoying good company, while eating a delicious barbeque and potluck lunch!
The theme of the picnic this year was the California Missions, and many of us participated in a quiz about their history in an effort to win the glorious prizes! The little kids burned up their energy giggling and jumping around in the bouncy house. And for those little ones who were looking for a more leisurely and creative way to spend their afternoon, there were Sacred Heart projects and patron saint bracelets to be made.
The Olympic games were so much fun as we got together for some friendly competition. Four teams were formed and the sports began! We were able to develop teamwork and strengthen friendships while playing four corners, tug-of-war (in which Canon Ueda’s team dominated), an exciting game of dodgeball, and hilarious relay races. The cheering and laughter resounded throughout the park!
A Rosary procession at the edge of the lake concluded the day’s festivities. We all eagerly await next year’s Oratory Parish picnic!
