The Wandering Oratory: Back at Our Old Home to Honor St. Philomena

SP 600 4

On August 10th, the 23rd Annual Celebration of St. Philomena took place at Five Wounds Church in San Jose.  It was a great grace for the faithful to be back at this beautiful church giving glory to God in a Solemn High Mass celebrated by Canon Raphael Ueda as celebrant, Father Willian Morgan as deacon.  As Mass began with the procession, we couldn't help but be reminded of all the beautiful Sundays we spent in this church and what a proper and fitting place for God to be worshiped- it definitely brought tears to our eyes.

During Mass, confessions were heard by Father Thomas Reeves, OCD.  After Mass we prayed the Litany of St. Philomena followed by a candlelight Rosary procession winding through the parish grounds.  The procession ended back in the church and the faithful were able to venerate a first class relic of St. Philomena, what a blessing!

We ended the evening with everyone gathering for wonderful food and fellowship.  There was even a raffle for some St. Philomena items and all of the faithful received a gift honoring her.  It was a very special feast day, and we left filled with joy and thankful we were able to be back at Five Wounds Church for the evening.
