About St. Margaret Mary's in Oakland

The Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron, Bishop of the Diocese of Oakland, invited the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest to the Diocese of Oakland in January, 2005. Canon Olivier Meney is the current rector of the Oakland Apostolate since October 2012. On September 18, 2011, Canon Henry Fragelli succeeded Canon Jean Marie Moreau who was previously appointed as Episcopal Delegate for the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite in September 2008. Canon Moreau follows Canon Michael Wiener, who served in this post from January 2005 to September 2008.

Since the arrival of the Institute in 2005, Holy Mass in the Classical Roman Rite is offered every day, and all the sacraments made available in the Classical Roman Rite once again at the parish of St. Margaret Mary, whose pastor is Father Stanislaw Zak.

Gregorian chant of Mass Propers are sung by volunteers most Sundays, assisted once a month by the children's Choir of the Angelus; One Sunday a month sung by the Pacific Collegium Choir; and the Sacred Heart Friday Mass is sung by the women's Sacred Heart Choir.
