Papal Medal Given to Clerical Oblate

On behalf of His Holiness, Pope Francis, the Archbishop of Milwaukee, the Most Reverend Jerome Listecki, conferred upon Abbé George Baird, clerical oblate of the Institute, the papal medal "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.” This decoration of honor by the Holy See was bestowed upon Abbé George Baird in recognition of his outstanding work as the project manager for the restoration of Saint Stanislaus Church in Milwaukee. For the past several years leading up to the 150th anniversary of St. Stanislaus Parish in September, 2016, Abbé George had organized and directed the contractors for the major renovations and improvements to this historic church. He also had accomplished many on the practical tasks of this work with his own hands on experience and energetic talent.

Very pleased with the beautiful results of this successful restoration project, several hundred faithful attended the ceremony in the parish hall of St. Stanislaus on Sunday, December 4, to offer their thankful gratitude to Abbé George as Archbishop Listecki graciously presented him with this papal honor.

Clerical oblates are brothers in the family of the institute who live in community with the canons, praying together various parts of the Divine Office. Formation in the Liturgy and the spirituality of St Francis de Sales, dedication of one's talents for the practical tasks of the apostolate, and fraternity with confreres and the lay faithful are integral aspects of this life of service to Christ and His Church.
