Confirmations by Bishop Perry at the Shrine

Latin Mass Confirmations

The Most Reverend Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Chicago, conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, October 14, at the Shrine of Christ the King. In the sermon His Excellency offered an inspirational exhortation at the beginning of the Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict XVI. After confirming the young people, Bishop Perry celebrated solemn Pontifical Mass with Renaissance choral music. His Excellency then greeted the many faithful at the festive reception. With deep appreciation the Institute of Christ the King thanks His Excellency, Bishop Perry, for his continual support of its growing apostolate at the Shrine.

A splendid concert in honor of Bishop Perry was presented by musicians from the Amadeus Consort. The program of baroque music for violin, flute, harpsichord, and base included pieces by Stamitz, Stozel, Corelli, Vivaldi, and Telemann. This concert is part of the Shrine's ongoing series (classicalconcerts.org) which, together with many other events, is bringing about a renaissance of faith and culture in this historic landmark church building.
