THE CHURCH DECORATION IS TRULY TURNING INTO A THING OF GREAT BEAUTY.

The painting is proceeding now at a fast pace. As you can see from the photo below, the sanctuary painting is virtually complete with the installation of the patterned wall-coverings. This patterned material (called "diapering" in the parlance of decorators and architects) is a beautiful mix of symbolic church decorative elements with vivid color and metallic accents. Painting continues along the sides of the nave and the scaffolding will remain in place until this is complete along with some additional work that needs of be done to the stained glass windows along the north and south side.

Painting is also continuing on the east side by the main entrance to the church. The framework you see is the ceiling of the choir loft floor. It is anticipated that the painting work will be completed by the middle to late May.

In the meantime, a crew of workers is cleaning the marble elements of the main altar. Although the altar is a beautiful work of art, it is very old and has naturally acquired a "patina" of dirt and soot over the years in the Boston church from which it came. The workers are scrubbing, sanding and scraping each and every piece of the hundreds of elements that make up the altar. This will also be done for the two marble side altars.
