Ireland has always been an American dream, at least for those whose ancestors came over from the beautiful Emerald Isle. It is now a reality for the Institute of Christ the King.

The Institute Comes to Ireland

For the past few years, priests of the Institute of Christ the King have regularly traveled to Ireland. We have been invited to celebrate for friends of the Institute and the Extraordinary Form in many places, and more and more requests have arrived from different parts of the country. Somehow, there seems to be a strong link between the Irish and the charism of our Institute, probably brought about by St. Francis de Sales. The Irish have open hearts and love charity and hospitality, as does our great Patron Saint.

We are blessed by a regular Irish apostolate. With the gracious permission of the Bishop, the Institute celebrates Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form in Limerick at St. Patrick’s Church on Dublin Road, every first and third Sunday of the month at 10:30 AM. The number of faithful is steadily growing and more and more young faces are visible in the attentive congregation. A Gregorian schola has been successfully formed, and a whole group of well-trained altar servers help us to celebrate a dignified High Mass. We have gained many friends among clergy and laity, and now the Institute of Christ the King is known by many.

Your Opportunity to Help

At this time, an additional step can be taken to advance our apostolic endeavors on the Emerald Isle. Local supporters have suggested beginning a charitable association under Irish law to fund our efforts to make the Extraordinary form better known and thus to follow the encouragement of the Holy Father given in his letter “Summorum Pontificum."

The “Friends of the Institute of Christ the King” will help us to foster Irish vocations for the Institute and also help with the material needs for our priestly work for souls.

This Web page serves the double purpose of making our Irish apostolate known in Ireland and in the United States of America. If you dream about Catholic Ireland, then you have here the opportunity to help it become a reality for you and others. With the help of God and your generous support, the Institute of Christ the King will realize your dreams!
