Corpus Christi in Chicago, 2008

On Sunday, May 25, 2008, the External Solemnity of Corpus Christi was observed with a Solemn High Mass followed by a procession to an outside altar prepared for the occasion. This was the first time since the Institute arrived in Chicago that Corpus Christi was celebrated inside the church building (previously a chapel in the basement of the rectory was used for Mass), and it was the first time that Benediction was held at an outdoor altar. (Some passers-by stopped to inquire at what this was about — an excellent opportunity to witness to our Faith.)

Five of our young faithful received their First Holy Communions at this Mass and had the privilege of following Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament very closely during the procession, processing immediately behind the baldacchino.
