By gracious invitation of Most Rev. Robert W. Finn, Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph, the Institute of Christ the King has been charged with the Latin Mass apostolate of his diocese, which currently functions at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Eventually the apostolate will be moved to its own location, Old St. Patrick’s Church, once restoration of the historic church, built in 1874, is completed. On October 9th, 2005 the Institute’s inaugural Mass was celebrated by Father Denis Buchholz, pro-rector of the apostolate in Kansas City, who was introduced by Msgr. Michael Schmitz, Vicar General of the Institute, and welcomed by the Most Reverend Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph. .

Upcoming Spiritual Theology Classes

On Oct. 26th, Nov. 9th, 16th & 30th and on Dec. 14th at OLOS Church.  The Spiritual Theology Class will be held every other Thursday at 7:30 pm after the 6:30 pm Thursday Evening Mass. In the classes we will study basically the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales. For our textbook we will use St. Francis de Sales ’ Philothea, or Introduction to the Devout Life.  This book is one of the great classics in spiritual theology and is written in a style that everyone can read and understand.  In each class, we will examine one or two chapters of the Philothea and the teaching of St. Frances de Sales.  Father will explore the important aspects of Salesian Spirituality and how we can apply them to our daily life.
